A check list when you cancel the cellular phone service

Damage due to delay and refusal of cancelation

  • Members of bundling services can cancel contracts any time during the membership period
  • You must check if cancelation of the service is done by contracting the applicable customer centers after cancelling it to prevent the damage caused by carriers’ delay and refusal of cancelation. And you should leave the documents or records which can prove the facts to ask for cancelation
  • The mobile telecommunication business operator shall return all of these charges in case of overpayment or mis payment, and if it occurs due to reasons attributable to the company, it shall be returned by imposing a legal interest rate

Early cancelation charge

  • Agreed period is the period set for use in advance by the user when contracting. When the user sets an agreed period, discount is provided, and the range of discount is bigger when the agreed period is longer
  • Discount return means returning the discounted charge when canceling or reducing the agreed period during the obligatory use period. The standard is different according to the company, rate system, date of sign up, so ask the customer service center or check the contents in websites
  • Some telecommunication companies abolished Discount return. (Check through customer service center or clause)
  • However, in the case below, the customer may not pay the cancellation charge like discount return. But the company may require documents for proving the exemption of cancellation charge
    • Minor contract without the consent of legal representative
    • Damage by illegal use of other’s name
    • Bad quality of call in main residential area (registered address, billing location, office). When telecommunication and terminal purchase contract is connected, the terminal and peripherals should be returned. (Consumer dispute settlement regulation, 2014)
    • Items stated in the clause of the telecommunication company including the death of user

How to Cancel

Cancelation process

  • To cancel the service, the user or deputy can apply for cancelation through window receipt, call, fax, online after checking the necessary documents like ID card
  • The company should notify the cancelation through sms, e-mail, call when cancelation is received and completed

Cancel the existing contracts according to changing carriers

  • The contracts before changing carriers are automatically canceled by asking other carriers to change them
